Cyber G.IRL Volume 4 is out!

Cyber G.IRL 2025 has wrapped, and the g.irls ’ final project is LIVE!

Our Anthem Award-winning coding series, Cyber G.IRL, is an 8-week experience that introduces girls to careers in tech by building a peer-built digital magazine.

This year's theme was “West Coast,” so the groups had to collaborate to code, design graphics, and write articles that focused on the West Coast.

The coders worked with The Hidden Genius Project to code and build the website using JavaScript. While the Graphic Design team worked with Hunnibuzz design agency to create the look, vibes and photo shoot (see below) for the zine, and the journalist worked with OurWatts Bookshop to create heavy hitting articles such as “Is Graffiti Vandalism or Art”? and poetry including a poem called “A Night in Calfornia”

Everything was peer-led and created; we just created a safe environment for GIRLS in the hood to express themselves.

Oh, and guess what? The girls kept the new Apple computers they used in the cohort, closing the digital divide in homes across Compton, Willowbrook, and South Central!

Special thanks to our Funders and supporters of this program:
